A teenage boy in a stolen vehicle led Florida sheriff's deputies on a high-speed chase after threatening to kill a police officer.
On Saturday, a 16-year-old boy allegedly called the Orlando Police Department and said he was going to kill an officer and detective, WJXT-TV reports. It was unclear why the teen made a threat against an officer, but an alert was issued for him Tuesday after he was accused of stealing his father's Ford Escape and was heading to Orlando from Virginia.
A Florida Highway Patrol trooper spotted the teen along Interstate 95 in Jacksonville and tried to pull him over. A high-speed pursuit began, with the teen reaching speeds over 100 mph as he recklessly switched lanes and nearly colliding with other vehicles. At one point, the teen made an obscene gesture at the trooper.
Finally, the trooper performed a PIT maneuver to stop the teen in St. Johns County. The move sent the Ford Escape to spin onto the grassy median, and the teen was arrested.
No one was injured in the incident.
